Featured Curriculum

  • The Power of Left Brain / Right Brain Hybrid Thinking

The most remarkable innovators in history have an unusual ability to appreciate both art and science equally. They use both their artistic instincts and analytical thinking to create highly impactful products and services.

This workshop will be a rapid fire, unpredictable series of classes using human-centered design thinking to encourage and illustrate the power of hybrid mind thinking. Fellows will meet artists and scientists who think like artists, and be challenged to create original art themselves.

  • Storytelling for Influence

Knowing how to craft a narrative to motivate and inspire is core to success.

Whether you need someone to support your organization, get behind your idea, or get excited about following your lead, refining your storytelling skills can help.

In this online course, Fellows will learn how to shape ideas into a story. They will create a story brief, iterate and evolve their story through prototyping and feedback, and hone their tone and style.

  • Human Branding

This workshop is designed to help each individual understand that they are a brand. Fellows will learn how to create a “brand map” for themselves, reflect deeply on their inner purpose and clearly identity and define their personal life missions.

  • Designing Positive Societal Futures

“Inject Optimism into the world” - this is the battle cry for Latimer Fellows.

This workshop is based on the book, Abundance: The Future is Better Than You Think by Dr. Peter Diamandis, Founder and Executive Chairman of the XPRIZE Foundation. Fellows will learn that our collective futures are bright as long as we work to bring our best selves and intentions to whatever we do.

It is a thrilling antidote to today’s dark pessimism. The authors rely on exhaustive research and extensive interviews with top scientists, innovators, and captains of industry to explore how four emerging forces—exponential technologies, the DIY innovator, the Technophilanthropist, and the Rising Billion—are conspiring to solve our biggest problems.

Diamandis examines the stunning impact these forces are having on categories of critical importance while establishing hard targets for change, laying out a strategic road map for governments, industry, and entrepreneurs, and giving us plenty of reason for optimism.

  • Presenting Your Vision

Many brilliant innovators have a very hard challenge presenting themselves and their ideas with clarity and elegance.

In this workshop, Fellows will learn how to be most effective at presenting. The program will be led by Nancy Duarte, a communication expert who has been featured in Fortune, Time Magazine, Forbes, Fast Company, Wired, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Cosmopolitan, LA Times, and on CNN.

Her firm, Duarte, Inc., is the global leader behind some of the most influential visual messages in business and culture. As a persuasion expert, she cracked the code for effectively incorporating story patterns into business communications. She’s written six best-selling books, five of which have won awards. Nancy was Steve Jobs’ personal presentation coach throughout his career at Apple.

  • Experience Design as a Core Skill

Post-Covid, an emerging “experience economy” is beginning to take hold in a meaningful way. Just as materialism transformed life in the 20th century, experience has the potential to do the same in the 21st century.

“Investing in experiences and memories, rather than the short-loved appeal of objects”, could be the zeitgeist framework of our age.

This weekly class on the fundamentals of experience design is focused on developing a portfolio with two fully executed projects over the course of the calendar year. Fellows will learn to properly produce a dinner party, a pitch meeting, a date, or a small theatrical experience.

The program will be led by renowned experience design consultants, OdesseyWorks.

  • Black Leadership

Community and capabilities. The Black Leadership Workshop strengthens both. This two-week intensive live online leadership program creates the space and support to help you delve into the challenges and opportunities of being a Black leader today. Through reflection and connection with people who share similar experiences, you will create a meaningful network to guide you on your leadership journey.

This is a leadership program unlike any other. Yes, you’ll gain valuable skills and insights from faculty to bring back to your organization. But it’s about much more than that. It’s about expanding the way you see the world, personally and professionally — so you can change it.

Through real-time, faculty-led lectures, small-group exercises, guest speakers, and facilitated conversations, you’ll enhance your leadership capability and learn to more effectively manage power and influence others.

Led by diversity and inclusion expert Glenn Singleton, the LLFP Black Leadership Workshop is a learning journey of action, shared experience, growth, and transformation.

  • The Power of Listening

We have many opportunities to listen to people on a daily basis, but to what degree are we really listening?

Inspired by Quincy Jones and the research of Otto Schamer, the Fellows will learn we can break listening down into four levels: inner chatter, factual, empathic, and generative. The further down we go, the more powerful our conversations can become, and the more impact we can have.
